Now, Napster will try to fight Spotify. Can they fight against the competition?

Music program Napster was a much debated program around the millennium due to criticism of illegal distribution of music files. The service was as a result of which closed in 2001. The program was again available in 2005, this time with a greater focus on legal sales of music.

From at 1:01 on Tuesday Napster can be used to listen to streaming music in 14 countries.

Rasmus Pedersen Rex from Roskilde University Ph.D. writes about musicians' terms by the digital revolution. He warns against more such flow services.

It is a very market to get into. Napster is going to be another player in a market that is already many competitors at the moment. Basic is not enough room for so many competing services if all go around and make money.

Music service has about 20 million songs, which is about the same number as Spotify and other rivals have. It does not appear that they are close to matching their Spotify offers.

AMD launches new graphics card for the pros.

AMD announced the launch this week a new top model among the company's video products for professional users. ATI Firepro V9800 is the most powerful professional graphics card from AMD to date.

The card is aimed at users of digital content production, CAD and visualization. It supports, among other things Eyefinity technology which allows one adapter to connect to up to six screens at once, by offering a resolution up to 5760 x 2160 pixels.

This can however be extended by using synchronization module ATI FirePro S400, which makes it possible to synchronize the screens from four such video cards. Thus, a single PC could deliver images up to 24 different screens.

The new card is equipped with 4 gigabytes of GDDR5 memory, which is a new record for AMD. The large memory will primarily be useful for users in industries where they treat very large data sets, including the oil and gas industry, medicine and animation.

Fake banks abound on the Internet

Each week scammers create 57,000 new URLs.

The Spanish IT security company Panda Software has conducted an analysis of malicious Web addresses worldwide over the past three months. These are URLs that contain malicious code, which is created to spread viruses, worms and trojans, and to drain service users for personal information.

These fake URLs to mimic legitimate services addresses, and they positioned and indexed on leading search services with a view to trick users into clicking on them instead of the actual services. At times they come very high on the list of search results.

The survey reveals that the Panda every week laid out 57,000 fake URLs. These URLs concentrates on 375 different and high profile brands, such as misused to lure users. The leading brands are abused eBay, Western Union, Visa, Amazon, Bank of America, Paypal and U.S. tax authorities.

65 percent of the 57,000 fake URLs will be posted each week belongs to banks. The next most popular category of fraudsters is the online shops and online auctions.

Another Google acquisition investigated

Micron and Intel adds 50 percent more data in each cell.

Intel and Micron announced yesterday that the company has developed the NAND-based flash memory with 25 nanometer process technology, in which each cell has three bit (3bpc). This should lead to the industry's smallest NAND devices and the highest storage capacity. Most flash memory cells in the day can only save one (single-level cell) or two piece (multi-level cell) of data. Technology with three bits per cell is also known as triple-level cell (TLC).

This will reduce the size of the units with more than 20 percent, while capacity is maintained.

Pilot production is already underway, and full production is expected to be implemented by the end of the year.

Save 10 to 20 terabytes per disk

Toshiba announced this week that the company has developed and produced media for hard drives with a storage density of 2.5 terabit per square inch. This is almost five times the storage density in the latest hard drives offered by the company today.

Toshiba will present the technology under the Magnetic Recording Conference 2010 today.

The company has adopted a solution which is called bit Patterned Media (BPM), which is a magnetic storage medium that consists of parent cells that each store one bit. In traditional hard drive technology stored each piece across a few hundred magnetic grains.

With the storage density that is now been reflected, each magnetic point or cell will be less than 10 nanometers, which is not easy to achieve with current process technologies.

Therefore, IDEMA is now in the process of establishing a new alliance, Storage Technology Alliance (STA), where members can collaborate on joint research initiatives.

Among the first members of the STA's hard drive vendors Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, Seagate and Western Digital.

Other potential members may be players in the storage industry, customers, suppliers, universities and laboratories.

The goal is that the STA will help to reduce the time it takes between innovation and introduction of products, while maintaining a competitive marketplace.

More information about STA shall be made available in September.

Oracle will stop all Java on Android

Plaintiff Google for breach of patent rights, and demands a ban on Dalvik JVM.

Oracle surprised by delivering a lawsuit against Google for infringement of patents and copyrights. The lawsuit alleges that Dalvik, the virtual machine to run Java applications in the mobile operating system Android, violates seven different Java-related patents and copyrights.

Oracle requires a unspecified damages and a prohibition against "persistent violations". In practice, this means that any use of Dalvik must cease, and that Google has to find another way to run Java applications on Android.

Google has not commented on the lawsuit, and shows that they have not received the text. The lawsuit came last night to the U.S. District Court in Northern California.

Oracle's acquisition by Sun earlier this year gave the company control of one of Sun's most important inventions, the programming language Java. It was originally conceived as a language in which developers could present applications to a large number of hardware and system product platforms, without regard to the peculiarities of each platform. These characteristics should be handled through that each platform had its "Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The effectiveness of a Java application is therefore entirely dependent on the performance of the JVM it is running on.

IBM with a new million acquisition

Attacks Apple's straitjacket for developers

The reason that Apple is in the spotlight, is the stringent rules imposed on software developers in the IOS platform that both the iPhone and iPad is based. Developers are not allowed to use tools other than Apple. It excludes the use of including Adobe's popular animation and video tools Flash from Adobe. Apple has also been established a ban on the iPhone and iPad applications may include mechanisms to display ads provided by Google Admob.

Skype prepares IPO

Communications giant Skype plans to offer shares for 100 million dollars when the company stock to be listed in the U.S.. The company hopes to traded on Nasdaq before the year's end.

It is less than a year ago trading site eBay sold the majority of Skype to the private investment group Silver Lake Partners for about $ 2 billion. Now notifies the Luxembourg-registered company that wants to be listed on the Nasdaq technology index on the Stock Exchange in New York by year's end.
