1.Spam, viruses and spyware
Firstly, remove the spam, spyware and viruses. If you do not have software for this, there are several good and free programs on the web. One I would not recommend is Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware because they was some of the first on the market and I have seen that they not find as much spyware on your machine that other do, so use a free spyware cleaner as SuperAntiSpyware or her is a link to many others you can buy if you want. It is also nice to have a firewall in addition to windows firewall. A completely okay firewall can be found here.
2.Remove no longer used programs
As time passes, so we put in more and more applications. This not only fills up your hard drive, but also the register, so remove the programs you no longer use in the control panel in Windows
Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Software
3.Remove programs from startup menu
Many programs put them self in the boot menu when installed. This means that they start at the same time as Windows, and this makes the start-up takes longer. You can safely remove most programs from here (the programs are not removed from the computer, and can be started in the usual way).
Attention! DO NOT REMOVE FIREWALL AND ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAMS FROM START MENU.
To remove programs from startup:
Click "Start" then "Run"
In the box that comes up,type "msconfig", click enter and select Startup.
Remove all programs that you know what is and who do not need to start up with Windows.
You will get a warning about changes in the startup so restart your computer and a box will shows up to tell you that changes have been made so just click in the box where it says not show again.
4. Clean up registry
When a program is installed on the Computer, so do you also install many files in the registry. The more files in the registry, the slower PC.
Attention! DO NOT GO DIRECTLY INTO the registry and delete ANY WHERE IF YOU DO NOT KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU DOING.
There are several free programs that makes this safe and secure for you. Including Ccleaner as the best of the software in my opinion. Ccleaner also clean up temporary files on your computer, but software like this will never clean the registry so good as it was when you just have installed your operating system, and do not go for software who tell you to speed up your pc and things saying something in that directions. If not this tips help to the speed of your computer no other software will either.
Download, install, and follow the instructions in the program.
5. Cleaning hard drive
It can also pay off and clean the hard disk. This may take a long time, so it is best to do this when the computer are not in use, for example. Overnight.
Click Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools and select Disk Fragmentation
Select the drive (s) (usually C:) to be cleaned and click 1 time on it (there are more, then hold the Ctrl key while you click).
Then click Defragment
Leave the work to completion without using the computer. You may find free Defragmentations software on the internet who do a better job than windows own defrag software. Just use Google.
6. Delete temporary files
When you do something on your computer or surfing the Internet, then files are saved in a temporary folder. It can be profitable and delete this regularly.
Click Start -> Run
Type "% temp%" in the box and click OK
Delete all files and folders in the window that pops up.
7. Remove unnecessary effects
All the fancy effects in Windows allows Computer to run slower. Do you have an older PC, so it may be okay to remove them.
Right Click on the My Computer icon on the desktop or the Start button and select properties
Select Advanced and click Settings under Performance
Select Adjust for best performance.
Click OK.
Still just as slow?
Have you gone through all of the above and the Computer is still slow, it is unfortunately no option but to reinstall Windows. Make then first a backup of what you want to preserve. A lot of backup software for free on the internet Also, make sure you have the necessary drivers to a reinstallation. You can find software on the internet who backup all your drivers as a program called UniBlue driver Scanner
