Much will be based on the browsers keep getting better support for HTML5 technologies and that the JavaScript performance of most browsers improved regularly.
According to Google, this means for users of large spreadsheet to be processed in the browser with roughly the same performance as system-specific applications.
In the text editor, Google has added functionality that margin ruler, better bullets and numbered lists, and easier placement of the images.

In spreadsheets, there is now a field for editing formulas, auto-completion of cells, drag and drop columns, easier navigation between different spreadsheets, and other functionality that requires a relatively new browser. In practice this means that Internet Explorer 6 is no longer supported.
Import functions should be improved so that it will be easier to upload files from the user computer and in this cloud. Moreover, promised that the documents will retain their structure with greater accuracy.
Collaboration improves the possibilities. It should now be possible for as many as 50 people to work the same at the same time, and in the documents, Google has adopted features from Google Wave, so you can immediately see the changes they make to the documents, character by character.
Google Docs also has a new, separate drawing tools, where users can collaborate on, among other things, to create diagrams and other business graphics.
Much of the new functionality is probably still in beta stage, which in practice means that it is unavailable to users until they have gone into the settings of Google Docs and checked that you want to use the new version.

Google also reports that the new editing tools are not compatible with offline functionality in Gears plugin. Google plans to phase out the Gears and will make use of offline functionality that is part of the HTML5 specification instead. But this work is not yet complete.
