Coordinated closure of giant botnet

Mariposa is closed, after several months of work by several security firms.

Botnet Mariposa was first discovered in May last year, and several security companies have since then worked together to shut down the network. Now Panda Security reported that the network is closed, and that three people have been arrested by Spanish authorities.

Mariposa to have infected nearly 13 million computers, and is one of the largest networks that have been discovered.
