But they also support Flash, Java and Ajax on mobile ...
Having congratulated both Apple and Opera for the decision, announced Skyfire yesterday that they will also focus on "the platform", i.e. iPhone, iPod touch and the iPad.
- The competition among mobile browsers took a big step in the right direction when Apple Authorized Opera Mini to the iPhone, writes Skyfire CEO Jeff Glueck in a blog post.
The fight to become the world's preferred mobile browser is barely begun. Opera Mini is currently a clear market advantage with its 50 million users. Last year also Skyfire on track.
Skyfire has a lot in common with Opera Mini. Common to both products is that it mostly takes place at the company's servers. There processed pages and content, before data is sent heavily compressed to the user's mobile client.
Opera rival has come up with a solution that they think is better at handling heavy items, such as dynamic content and multimedia.
- We are the only mobile browser that supports all major Web 2.0 standards, including Ajax, JavaScript and Flash 10, they claim on their own websites.
So far supports Symbian S60 and Windows Mobile-based phones. Skyfire Labs has previously announced that they are working on a version for Blackberry, and have expressed great interest in supporting the Android platform.
According to Jeff Glueck, they have followed the process of Opera's entry on the iPhone platform with Argus eyes.
- This will accelerate our strategy of products for Apple, writes Skyfire commander, warning that they will soon make an announcement with more details on the plans.
