All PCs used in connection with the Olympics in Vancouver are using apparently Windows XP, reports website cnet.com.

Acer has delivered over 6 000 computers for the games in Canada, and they confirm that all machines have XP installed.

There are said to have been the Olympic Committee (VANOC) in Vancouver and the technical manager (Atos Origin) for the Paralympics, which wanted to have XP on all machines.

- The aim of the selection of computers and operating systems for these toys has been to avoid the unfortunate technical episodes. We have a few small exceptions so far succeeded in this, "said Todd Olson, technical manager for Acer in Vancouver, the site cnet.com.
