All IE users must select browser again

Forcing you to take a standpoint.

Many users of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 will from the 17 March had to make a more conscious choice of browser.

Then comes Microsoft with a mandatory update to the Windows editions via Windows Update. This update installs the much discussed options screen, which Microsoft has to offer as a result of last year's settlement with the EU.

The patch affects users in 32 European countries. Deployment will start gradually with a few countries, but will be in full swing as of the 17 March.

Only Windows users with Internet Explorer as the default browser in the operating system, which will mark something of options screen.

- These users will first bring up a screen where they among other things, is told what a browser is.

- Then they get up the selection screen, where the five major browsers are presented in random order. A number of other browsers will be presented in the same interface, but then the user pushing the presentation of the five largest aside.

browsersUsers who receive the options page either choose to postpone the election until the next time you restart the computer, or to choose a browser that is then downloaded, installed and set as default browser for the system. There will also be offered an opportunity to remove access to IE. It does not mean that IE is removed completely. The engine is also used by other Windows components.

It is also to monitor elections in the first place will only affect users who administer computers themselves. For Windows computers as the companies are behind a WSUS server (Windows Server Update Services),it will be up to the IT department to decide what to do.
