Google burying Directories

Should prioritize their own services in search results.

Directory services with paid links has long been the owl seen at Google, who believe they create uneven results.

The new version of the world's most used search engine will punish them by moving the far backwards in terms lists.

- Web directories will get far worse ranking in the new version of Google.

These competing today directly with Google's own directory service, where business listings linked to Google Maps.

The changes are part of the project code-named Caffeine, if the goal has been to create a better, faster and more relevant search engine.

Test phase of Caffeine was recently completed and Google are now ready to roll out the new version, currently in a data center.

Google engineer Matt Cutts writes in a blog post that a full implementation of all Google users will not be completed until after the upcoming U.S. holiday season, that is, "Thanksgiving" in late November.
