Will help fat Americans
Microsoft has initiated collaboration with Wolfram Alpha to improve search results and help fat Americans.
Both Microsoft's Bing and Wolfram Alpha has long stood in the shadow of Google's market position in the engine area.
This will now do something about, by launch cooperation.
Bing said the BBC will improve in diet, health and mathematics through this collaboration with Wolfram Alpha.
Clear answers, not links
For the uninitiated is Wolfram Alpha engine - created by physicist Stephen Wolfram - who instead of giving suggestions for links that may provide the answer to question posed will provide clear answers to each question.
They do this by collecting information from the public and licensed databases, and thus generate a response users understand.
It is mostly specific questions that are getting the best answers. There may be questions about the height of the mountain, about land and people. But you can also get the answer to the question of life, the universe and everything else.
API makes it possible
Wolfram Alpha launched in October, API solutions (Application Programming Interface), which are tools that allow third party developers to build services and tools for its platform based on Wolfram Alphas system.
This means that Bing can retrieve information from Alpha Wolfram when users search on specific information on their search engine.
Rolled out first in the U.S.
Bing says that it is the United States who first get to experience these results. They explain it with the United States is the country that need specific advice about diet most, since approximately 90 million Americans choose to start a diet each year. There, const hold and exercise advice Wolfram Alpha collected be useful.
Bing sitting with 9.57% of market share against Google's 70.6% now in October. Can this cooperation be the basis for increased market share for Microsoft's search engine?
