Intel buys McAfee

Adds several billion dollars on the table for IT security company.

Intel announced today that the company acquires IT security company McAfee for $ 48 per share in cash. This agreement gives a value of about 7.68 billion dollars - almost 50 billion.

The deal has already been approved unanimously by the two companies' boards and will make McAfee a wholly owned subsidiary under Intel's Software and Services Group.

The aim of the agreement is to provide a combination of security-related software and hardware that better meet the needs of all types of customers, both on individual devices, servers and network cloud.

Before the acquisition can be terminated, it must be approved by McAfee Stock holders and by regulatory authorities.

McAfee was established in 1987 and sold last year for about two billion dollars. The company has about 6100 employees.
