Developer claims he owns Facebook

Facebook is sued in New York by a man who claims he is the rightful owner of 84 percent of the shares in the social community, writes Wall Street Journal.

Paul D. Ceglia claims that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg signed a contract with him in April 2003 to develop and design a Web service with the working title "The Face Book."

According to the contract would Ceglia get 1000 $ plus half the ownership of the finished product for the job he did. He should get more than one per cent of the activity for each day that passed over the 1 January 2004 and until the site was launched. It happened on the 4th February 2004, which forms the basis for the claim of 84 percent.

Freezing assets of the company

A judge at the Allegany Supreme Court in New York as a result of the lawsuit issued a temporary protection of the values in Facebook. The ruling blocking the transfer of assets.

Facebook requires in turn that the case is dismissed, and has also asked that it be moved to a federal court.

- We believe this case is complete junk and will fight hard against, according to a statement from Facebook spokesman Barry Schnitt.

Several American media, including Cnet, sore also doubt sue's credibility.

Paul D. Ceglia stands with his wife in the midst of another trial. The couple owns a company that produces biofuel. The company is suspected of having defrauded customers of $ 200,000, according to the American public prosecutor leading the case.

Facebook has since its inception six years ago experienced a tremendous growth and now counts nearly 500 million unique users. Facebook was last year valued at nearly $ 10 billion after the Russian investment group Digital Sky Technologies acquired 1.96 percent for $ 200 million.

In October 2007, Microsoft bought 1.6 percent stake in Facebook for $ 240,000,000, as Facebook's value was estimated at 15 billion dollars.
