As yet another sign that the global IT players are trying to get users in developing countries, the social online service Twitter purchased Cloud Hopper, a new American specialist in bulk handling of text messages (SMS).
The rich use Twitter mainly through computers or smart phones. In developing countries, this is not appropriate, and Twitter are seeking to establish a business model where small businesses, artisans, farmers with more to reach potential customers by twittering per text message.
A condition for this to succeed, is a solution for coordinating the Web service using SMS service. Cloud Hopper, which was established in Seattle in the U.S. state of Washington in 2008, this specialty. On their website explains Cloud Hopper that they have developed software and infrastructure to scale up and disseminate the SMS and MMS services over large areas, with zero downtime.
