Mega blunder led to black screens worldwide.
PCs worldwide broke down Wednesday, as a result of anti-virus solution for McAfee attack users using Windows XP.
Errors in the company's virus definition, identified as a patch with serial number 5958, led to the security program deleted the file "svchost.exe". This is an important and necessary part of the operating system.
The reports flow into the hospital, authorities, police, educational institutions and businesses affected by the error.
It is unclear how many computers were affected, but common to all was that the machines stopped working, either due to blue screen or the reboot continuously.
- The incident has affected less than one-half percent of our business customers. In addition, the small proportion of our consumer customers affected, said McAfee in a statement.
McAfee has published a recipe for how the error can be resolved.
