An Internet-based survey of 895 executives concluded that within ten years the Internet have contributed to increase the intelligence of the people. And not enough with that, but also reading and writing skills will be better.
The entire three-quarters of the experts who were asked during the survey believe that the Internet both increases and enhances the intelligence, and that two thirds believe that the use increases reading and writing skills in addition to the interpretation of what you read. Of those investigated, however, 21 percent believed that the use of the Internet had the opposite effect.

Nicholas Carr, who was one of those who thought the Internet had a negative effect on human intelligence, it reasoned that the Internet helps to reduce the concentration and the ability to deep thinking.

What the network does is to shift the emphasis of our intelligence away from what could be called a 'meditative and contemplative

intelligence' and more towards what is called a 'utilitarian intelligence'

Among the 895 examined were 371 of them experts, and the persons polled were scholars, business leaders, consultants, journalists and developers. The survey was conducted by Elon University in North Carolina, USA.
