Facebook adopts link-tagging.

Back @ you, Twitter!

Users of social network Facebook will soon link their answers and status messages to other users' profiles.

Facebook announced Thursday that members of the website can link other users' profiles using the @ symbol (@ symbol). This is clearly inspired by Twitters use of the @ symbol.

This feature means for the users that you can write a link to your profile to your friend on Facebook, and that the applicant will be informed that they are tagged.

According to Tom Occhino at Facebook, you will by writing the @ symbol in front of a name, bring up a list of friends, groups, events, and pages you can choose. The function will eventually be extended to apply to third party applications such as TweetDeck and Seesmic Desktop.

Mini-blogging service Twitter is nearly as large or feature-rich as Facebook, but Facebook constantly try to implement "twitter features" that make calls on your site more seamlessly.
When this feature is available to most people is still not entirely clear.
